In the graph below the red interval -1<x<2 represents where the graph is decreasing (down-hill). The green intervals -∞<x<-1 and 2<x<∞ represent where the graph is increasing (uphill).In the graph below the yellow intervals -2<x<0 and 3.2<x<∞ represent where the graph is positive (above ground). The purple intervals -∞<x<-2 and 0<x<3.2 represent where the graph is negative (below ground).
